What the Society keeps

The Society keeps as little as it can and still keep its register. When a member enters at the door, the Society takes one thing: the email address entered. If the address belongs to a member, a signed session is placed in the member's browser as a single cookie, holding the email, member number, and date of seating. It expires within thirty days and can be ended at any time by leaving the rooms.

The Society maintains no member database of its own. The register — who is a member, and under what number — is kept by Cigar·A.I., and the Society asks it at the door, each time, server to server.

Correspondence

A request placed with the Concierge becomes a letter: it is carried to the house's inbox by email, marked with the member's number, and answered by a person. It is retained the way correspondence is retained — in the house's keeping — and is never entered into any marketing system, because the Society does not operate one.

What the Society does not do

No analytics scripts. No advertising trackers. No pixels, no fingerprinting, no social buttons. The Society does not sell, rent, or share member information with anyone for any commercial purpose, and there is no tier of membership at which that changes.

The hands it passes through

Three services act for the Society, each doing one job: Vercel hosts these pages and keeps ordinary server logs; Resend carries the Society's email; and Cigar·A.I. answers the question of membership, under its own privacy terms. No other party touches member information.

The one cookie

The session cookie described above is the only cookie the Society sets. It is strictly functional — the door does not work without it — which is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing optional to consent to.

Age

The Society concerns itself with tobacco and is for adults of legal smoking age — twenty-one and over in the United States — as is membership in Cigar·A.I., through which all membership is verified.

A member's standing

A member may ask what the house holds concerning them, ask that correspondence be deleted, or end their session at any time. Write to the house at Privacy@TheCigarConnoisseurSociety.com and it will be answered as a person answers.

If this page changes, the date below changes with it, and the change will say what it is in plain language.
