Cigar A.I.^™

The Society's private sommelier.

The Cigar Connoisseur Society^™ keeps a register, holds its counsel, and opens its rooms to members alone. Cigar A.I. is where that counsel is rendered.

A member names a cigar, or scans its band, and the sommelier returns what is known of it — origin, wrapper, binder, filler, strength, and the notes it is said to carry. A member's own smoking is kept alongside it: a private journal, a humidor, a wishlist. None of it is shown to another member. A cellar and the notes kept on it belong to the member who keeps them, and to no one else.

Not every band resolves cleanly. A private roll, a shop exclusive, a blend retired before it was ever catalogued — the sommelier says so rather than guessing toward the nearest match. When a photograph gives up the maker but not the line, that is what comes back: the maker, and an honest admission that the rest was not legible. And when a cigar is read correctly but no trusted source can be found to confirm it, the record says that too. Nothing is completed by inference dressed as fact.

What is verified, and what is not

Every fact on a cigar's card is checked against a real source before it is shown as fact. Where a detail cannot be confirmed, the card says so, plainly, and leaves the space empty. A claim is verified, or it is marked as reported and unconfirmed, or it is absent. It is never invented to make a card look complete. The Society would rather publish less and be believed.

Verified means checked against a source outside the sommelier itself — a maker's own specification, a published review from a house we trust — and found to agree with it. A member sees the difference in the record itself, not in a single confident tone applied evenly across it: some fields are stated as fact, some are marked Unverified, some are left blank. The blank space is not a gap to be filled later. It is the answer.

The sommelier reads. Where it speaks for itself, it says so.

No photograph here was generated. No fact on a card is stated without a source behind it or the word Unverified in front of it.

Some of what a member reads is the sommelier's own — an impression of how a cigar tends to smoke, a note on the evening's selection. Those carry a label reading Sommelier's note, and they are set apart from the record. The record and the opinion are never the same thing, and never look it.

What it refuses

Cigar A.I. carries no advertising. No manufacturer and no retailer can purchase a place in a recommendation, or purchase the word verified. A card is accurate or it is not, and nothing changes that for a fee.

There is no public feed, no social layer, and no mechanism built to hold a member's attention past the point of usefulness. An individual record is never sold and never handed to a third party. The work is funded by membership, and by research drawn only from anonymized and aggregated figures — never from a member's own record, never traceable back to one.

The door

Membership is by invitation. The register is numbered, and every place in it traces back to a person. A request may be made at Cigar A.I., the Society's private sommelier.
